Pequot Tribe to meet its foes

FEBRUARY 28, 2001 The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation on Tuesday passed a resolution agreeing to meet the leaders of three Connecticut towns who oppose expansion of their reservation. The leaders of Ledyard, North Stonington, and Preston say they want to find a solution to their long-standing conflict. The towns and the state of Connecticut oppose the Department of Interior's decision to add of 165 acres of land to the tribe's reservation, which was upheld by the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals last fall. The towns say they want any settlement enacted into federal law. Get the Story:
