Pueblos get new leaders

JANUARY 4, 2000 New administrations are being announced at various Pueblos in New Mexico. Some Pueblos hold elections, while others appoint tribal members to governmental and other positions, which typically last a year. Most are inaugurated on January 6, also known as All Kings Day. Wilfred Garcia has been appointed the new Governor of San Juan Pueblo, a position he has held in the past. Charlie Dorame was appointed Governor of Tesuque Pueblo. Get the Story:
