Churches support Pueblo's land claim

JANUARY 16, 2001 The New Mexico Conference on Churches on Monday said it supports Sandia Pueblo's claim to the western face of the Sandia Mountains. The group says its a religious issue and that the issue should be resolved in favor of the Pueblo. They have sent letters to Senator Pete Domenici (R) and Representative Heather Wilson (R), who have opposed a proposed settlement on the issue, indicating their position. Get the Story:
