In an interview with The Associated Press, Former Massachusetts Institute of Technology student Lori Berenson says she believes she will be convicted of terrorist activities in Peru.

Previously convicted in 1996 by a military court, the 31-year-old American citizen is six weeks into a civilian trial. Although she has maintained she is innocent of helping Tupac Amaru rebels launch a failed attack, she also appears to have a lackadaisical attitude of her new trial.

The rebel movement is named for Tupac Amaru, an Indian leader who was executed for arising against the Spanish in the 1700s.

Berenson faces a 20-year sentence if convicted, but says she will ultimately be vindicated.
