MAY 12, 2000 Zapatista leaders are holding the Mexican government responsible for the murder of three Native family members in Polho, Chiapas. The Mexican government says the fault lies with the Zapatista movement. On May 1, the new bishop in the Mexican State of Chiapas called for peace in the region that has been volatile since the Zapatista movement launched an armed rebellion calling for greater Indian rights six years ago. Currently, talks between the Zapatistas and the government are at a standstill. Get the Story:
