THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 2001

Tribal police on the Fort Peck Reservation in Montana are investigating the death of a newborn infant found in a garbage dump on August 31.

A preliminary autopsy report has been received by tribal investigators but they aren't commenting. Police won't say if the baby was a boy or a girl and said it could be from outside the reservation community.

Police are also investigating a second death. James Shy Face, 41, was found late Tuesday night near the Missouri River.
