Study reveals stem cell problems

JULY 6, 2001 Research published in today's issue of Science reveals potential flaws with the use of embryonic stem cells to clone animals. Based on studies conducted with mice, researchers found that the use of stem cells does not guarantee a stable nor healthy cloned offspring. According to researchers, cloned mice had varying degrees of genetic abornmalities, which could not be predicted or tested. President Bush is currently considering whether to ban the use of federal funds for stem cell research. Get the Story:
