MARCH 23, 2001 The Food and Drug Administration on Thursday approved a diabetes monitoring device made by Cygnus Inc. Called "GlucoWatch," the watch-like device will measure glucose levels every 20 minutes by sending electric currents through a person's skin. It will warn diabetics if blood sugar reaches a low level. The device is prescription only. It has only been approved for use by adults. It it not 100% perfect, says the FDA, but will help replace finger-prick tests. Get the Story:
