Rules change for First Nations elections

NOVEMBER 7, 2000 A Supreme Court decision upholding the right of off-reserve band members to vote in First Nations elections is leading officials in Saskatchewan to register voters as far away as Australia and Central America. But the plan has been criticized and some First Nations leaders say they need more time to implement it. Some bands have had to redo their elections systems entirely in response. Get the Story:
