Indian group opposes construction

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2001 The Kansas City Plan Commission in Kansas City, Missouri, on Tuesday denied a rezoning request for an apartment complex that an American Indian group says is close to an ancient Indian site. The commission, though, says it was more concerned about the size of the project than the historical significance of the site. The National Center for Indigenous American Cultures at Line Creek and historians say the site is 4,000 years old. Get the Story:
