THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2001 Scientists fear an endangered right whale -- one of 300 known in existence -- has died off the coast of Massachusetts. A transmitter attached to Churchill has not emitted signals since Sunday, said the Center for Coastal Studies on Wednesday. There may be a technical problem, but the center is not optimistic. Scientists have tried to save the whale, first observed in June entangled in fishing line. The line caused an infection. Get the Story:
