MAY 30, 2000 The Muckleshoot Tribe is suing the state of Washington over a fish, timber, and wildlife agreement on the Cedar River. The tribe has asked the King County Superior Court to invalidate committments made by the state's Department of Ecology with the city of Seattle. In agreeing to the city's 50-year conservation plan, the tribe alleges the state improperly relinquished the power to determine water rights and to regulate water to the city. The city's plan itself, however, would not be invalidated by a finding in favor of the tribe. A determination of water rights in the watershed has not been made at this time. Get the Story:
