MARCH 30, 2001 Mountain States Legal Foundation, a property rights group in Colorado, is hoping former employee Secretary of Interior Gale Norton will be sympathetic to an attempt to overturn new government regulations that restrict air tours over the Grand Canyon in Arizona. The US Air Tour Association is protesting the rules, which were implemented in part to concerns raised by the Hualapai and Havasupai tribes. They say the rules will hurt their business and limit appreciation of the national park. Mountain States, with whom Norton cut all official ties earlier this year, is pushing the Association's case and could file an injunction in federal court in Washington, DC, as early as today. The rules are under the jurisdiction of both the National Park Service, and agency of the Interior, and the Federal Aviation Administration. Get the Story:
