Grand Canyon flight routes changed

MARCH 27, 2001 The Federal Aviation Administration on Monday published final rules affecting flight paths over the Grand Canyon in Arizona. The routes are being moved to the west in response to complaints raised by hikers and the Havasupai and Hualapai Tribes. Commercial air tour operators have opposed them, however. The FAA is delaying changes to certain routes in response to safety issues they have raised. Some Republican lawmakers have also sought their reversal by the Bush administration. Get the Story:
