FEBRUARY 13, 2001 The New Mexico Pueblo of Tesuque on Monday said it will appeal a federal court decision which limits its figure water rights claims to historical water use. The court earlier this month said the water usage of four Pueblo was limited to actual use between 1876 and 1924. The court said Congress' ratification of Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo and subsequent actions meant the Pueblo's water rights were to be determined once and for all. The Pueblo says this decision is legally incorrect and says it will continue to negotiate to resolve any outstanding issues dating from the decades old lawsuit affecting water rights in northern New Mexico.
