Cooperation of town wanted on casino bridge

DECEMBER 14, 2000 The Connecticut Department of Transportation is seeking the cooperation of the town of Preston on a plan to alleviate traffic between two tribal casinos. Although the town has complained of traffic problems, officials oppose the project and say it would only benefit the tribes. The town also believes it would help the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation lay claim to additional land and attempt to increase the size of their reservation. The preferred plan would add a new bridge between the casinos and a bypass highway. Get the Story:
