MONDAY, DECEMBER 24, 2001 Students at the elementary school in Laguna Pueblo in New Mexico recently made 105 teddy bears for the children of firefighters who died in the September 11 tragedy at the World Trade Center. But upon realizing that about 900 more children were without parents, the kids and their teachers have decided to make teddy bears for them all. Dressed in traditional Pueblo clothing, the bears are the idea of fourth-grader Candice Kasero. The students, parents and elders have been working together to create the bears. Donations of bears or money to buy bears and fabric can be sent to Lin Demers at Laguna Elementary, P.O. Box 191, Laguna, NM 87026. Checks should be made out to Lin Demers. Get the Story:
