North Slope mayor pleads innocent to DUI charge

THURSDAY, JULY 24, 2003 George Ahmaogak, the mayor of Alaska's North Slope Borough and an Inupiat Eskimo, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports. Ahmaogak was arraigned in Fairbanks, where he pleaded not guilty. According to the paper, his blood alcohol level was measured at 0.16, twice the legal limit. State troopers pulled him over early Saturday morning after noticing erratic driving behavior. Get the Story:
