Man claims to be chief of Moorish Cherokee group

TUESDAY, JULY 1, 2003 A Georgia man charged with molesting children asked a federal judge on Monday to be handed over to the United Nuwaubian Nation of Moors, claiming he is chief of the Cherokee group. Supporters of Malachi York rallied outside a courthouse as the judge held a hearing. York pleaded guilty to child molestation charges and is considering withdrawing the plea. Get the Story:
