Flandreau Santee Sioux leader disputes ouster

MONDAY, JUNE 16, 2003 Tom Ranfranz has been replaced as president of the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe of South Dakota. Ranfranz's lawyer says he was wrongly removed by the tribal council. Ranfranz, who has reportedly been undergoing treatment for a lengthy illness, has a court hearing June 19 to address the dispute. The tribal council has named Leonard Eller to serve as president.
