Wis. tribe wants GOP leader to resign over cartoon

TUESDAY, JUNE 3, 2003 The Ho-Chunk Nation of Wisconsin is calling for state GOP chairman Rick Graber to resign over a cartoon that has been criticized as racist. The cartoon showed a tomahawk being thrown at a taxpayer with the slogan: "As taxpayers, we got scalped." It ran on a GOP website in April but was removed after tribes complained. Graber offered an apology but the Ho-Chunk Nation said it was "half-hearted," the Associated Press reported. Get the Story:
