Mashantucket Tribe did not sue local towns

FRIDAY, MAY 23, 2003 The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation did not sue three towns and the state of Connecticut over a land-into-trust request. In 1995, state attorney general Richard Blumenthal and the towns sued the Department of Interior for approving the tribe's application. The 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in favor of the Interior in May 2001. The Norwich Bulletin says today that the tribe dropped the lawsuit. The tribe withdrew its application, but never sued the towns or the state. Get the Story:
