Calif. tribe's casino expansion plan criticized

TUESDAY, APRIL 15, 2003 The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians of California held a public hearing on a proposal to expand the tribe's casino. According to press accounts, many of the 100 in attendance criticized the plans. They said the tribe's existing casino has increased crime, pollution and traffic. Tribal chairman Deron Marquez said the tribe has always been willing to listen. "Don't stand in front of me saying I don't care," he was quoted as saying. Get the Story:
