Calif. tribe to start own fire department

TUESDAY, APRIL 15, 2003 The San Manuel Band of Serrano Mission Indians of California will start its own fire department, The San Bernandino Sun reports. The tribe currently uses the fire services of San Bernardino. The tribe has contributed money to the city for the purchase of equipment and recently gave $45,000 to match a federal grant.
