Tribal officer faces charges for high-speed chase

TUESDAY, APRIL 15, 2003 A police officer for the Oneida Nation of New York faces traffic charges for pursuing a shoplifting suspect off tribal land without authorization. The tribe had a cross-deputization agreement with Madison County but it was rescinded. As a result, officer Jolaine A. Nell could be charged for the April 9 high-speed chase in which the suspect crashed into another car, inflicting minor injuries on the driver. Get the Story:
