Narragansett Tribe to purchase burial ground

FRIDAY, MARCH 21, 2003 The Narragansett Tribe of Rhode Island is purchasing a 67-acre burial site with the help of a $500,000 grant from the federal government. Congress appropriated funds in fiscal year 2002 that will go directly to the tribe. The tribe considers the property, which was slated to become house building lots, historically significant.
