Conn. tribe purchases 76 acres for $2.4 million

TUESDAY, MARCH 18, 2003 The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut has purchased 76 acres of land near its reservation for $2.4 million, The New London Day reports. Chairman Mark Brown said the tribe hasn't decided whether to have the land placed into trust but that it won't be used for gaming. Under the tribe's settlement act, a total of 700 acres are to be placed in trust for a reservation. Only about 300 acres have been taken into trust so far. Get the Story:
