Mont. Indian lawmakers lose English only vote

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 24, 2003 An attempt by Montana's Indian legislators to repeal the state's English only law has failed. The House voted 54 to 45 to kill the repeal. Rep. Jonathan Windy Boy, a member of the Chippewa Cree Tribe, and other lawmakers say the law is an insult to tribal languages. Get the Story:
