State seeks to preserve historic Indian site

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 15, 2003 Officials in South Dakota have applied for a federal grant to preserve an Indian site that is three to five hundred years old. The South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Commission wants to purchase 250 acres at the Blood Run site, which straddles the Big Sioux River separating South Dakota and Iowa. The site includes burial mounds and artifacts. Most of the land is currently owned a couple that wants to sell and see it preserved. Get the Story:
