The Senate Indian Affairs Committee honors a tradition by holding an oversight hearing on Indian gaming this week.

When the panel last considered the issue two years ago, the hot topics were federal recognition and management deals. Media reports forced attention on the topics during an occasionally terse hearing.

This year, media scrutiny is again driving the agenda. Proper regulation of the $12 billion and growing industry and involvement of non-Indian investors are expected to be among the topics debated.
