Allegations of voter fraud in South Dakota could intimidate Native Americans and keep them from going to the polls, The Sioux Falls Argus Leader says in an editorial today.

The paper says none of the claims made by Republican lawyers have proven to be true. "In fact, Attorney General Mark Barnett has called some of them false," the paper points out.

The paper questions whether the future effect on the state, but mostly focuses on Native voters. "What would be a crime is if the election-fraud allegations - which have not been proven true - intimidate Native American voters into staying out of future elections," the paper says. "That hardly works toward healing the breach between whites and Indians."
