Indian reporter shakes up L.A.

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 5, 2002 An Indian reporter for The New York Times has Los Angelenos in a tizzy for his upfront stories about some of the city's oddities. Charlie LeDuff only recently moved to California. But he's already been denounced by the editorial pages of a few L.A. publications who don't like his take on the mayor, celebrity criminals and the rain. "I'm just calling 'em like I seem 'em," the 36-year-old Detroit native told Reuters. "You know you're a world-class city when people make fun of you. You think New Yorkers get bent out of shape when people call them loudmouths?" Get the Story:
