Several charged for bootlegging in Alaska

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 25, 2002 Eight people have been charged with smuggling alcohol onto the Metlakatla Reservation in Alaska. The accused were not involved in a bootlegging ring, authorities said. Each was charged individually. Metlakatla is the only federally-recognized reservation in the state. Federal supervision over the rest was terminated with the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act of 1971. Get the Story:
