Two dams in Ore. to be removed

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 2002 Portland General Electric, a power company, last week announced it will remove two dams in Oregon to help save dwindling runs of fish. The Marmot Dam on the Sandy River and the Little Sandy Dam on the Oregon River block fish from swimming upstream. Workers are Marmot handpick those that will survive the dam. Together, the dams generate about 10 megawatts of electricity, less than 1 percent of the 2,000 megawatts produced by PGE. Get the Story:
