Cherokee tribe a top campaign giver

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 2002 The Eastern Band of Cherokees is one of the top campaign contributors in Indian Country. The North Carolina tribe consistently ranks among the top 20 givers, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. This past election cycle, the tribe has donated at least $120,000 to local and federal campaigns. The tribe is able to spread the wealth thanks to its successful casino. Get the Story:
