Rare birds sighted in Alaska village

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 2002 Recent sightings of rare birds in the Yup'ik village of Gambell in Alaska have the bird community excited. A lesser whitethroat was reported in the village, the first sighting ever in North America. The bird normally resides in Central Siberia, several thousand miles away. The willow warbler was also spotted and pictures were taken. The bird is normally found in Europe. Get the Story:
