N.M. tribes get food safety grants

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, 2002 Three New Mexico tribes have received Department of Agriculture grants for food and agriculture homeland security. The Jicarilla Apache Nation was awarded $20,000, the Mescalero Apache Nation $30,000 and the Navajo Nation $50,000. The money comes from a $328 million spending bill. The grants are aimed at developing foreign animal disease surveillance, preparedness and response. Get the Story:
