MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2002 Joy Shockley is one of many Native students entering college this year. Her choice just happens to be on the other side of the country. Shockley is from Stevens, an Athabaskan village in Alaska. She's entering Dartmouth College in New Hampshire. Shockley graduated from the Verde Valley School in Arizona with the school's highest honor. She had been expelled from her from another school for drinking, smoking and drug use. Get the Story:
