Mohegan Tribe expected better slot earnings

FRIDAY, AUGUST 16, 2002 The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut saw a 28 percent increase in slot machine earnings last month but the amount was smaller than projected, The New London Day reports. The tribe expected higher revenues due to its new $1.1 billion casino and hotel expansion. But the September 11 terrorist attacks and a slower economy have affected business. The expansion was expected to push the tribe ahead of nearby competitor, the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, but that hasn't been realized either. The Pequot Tribe still leads. Get the Story:
