S.D. lawmakers to study Native prisoners

THURSDAY, AUGUST 1, 2002 The South Dakota Legislature's State-Tribal Relations Committee plans to study Native Americans in the state prison system. The 10-member committee decided to limit the study to adults. According to Webster Two Hawk, state commissioner of Tribal Government Relations, 23 person of men and 35 percent of women in the state prison system are Native. Get the Story:
