Missouri River plan promised this fall

THURSDAY, JULY 11, 2002 The Army Corps of Engineers told a Senate subcommittee on Wednesday that it will finalize a controversial Missouri River management plan by October. The Corps is under heavy fire from tribes, lawmakers, environmentalists and states for delaying the plan. Upstream and downstream interests are competing over the flows in the river. National Congress of American Indians President Tex Hall testified at a hearing to discuss the impacts of the river on the Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation of North Dakota, which he chairs.
