Wash. law forbids use of 'Oriental'

MONDAY, JULY 1, 2002 The word "Oriental" can no longer be used in statutes, codes, rules and regulations in Washington. The use of the word was repealed by the Legislature this year The state must use "Asian" starting today. Get the Story:
