Court urged to allow offshore drilling

TUESDAY, JUNE 11, 2002 A federal appeals court heard oral arguments on Monday in a case challenging oil and gas exploration off the coast of California. The Bush administration asked the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals to overturn a federal judge's order halting exploration. The ruling was a win for California, which opposes off-shore drilling. The state has asked President Bush and Secretary of Interior Gale Norton to revoke federal leases but the request has been denied. Get the Story:
