Wash. tribe reverses mascot stance

THURSDAY, JUNE 6, 2002 The Snoqualmie Tribe of Washington has changed its mind on Indian mascots, according to chairman Joseph Mullen. Mullen and his brother met with the Issaquah School District to discuss a high school's "Indians" mascot. The district subsequently banned offensive nicknames and mascots. But Mullen has written a letter to a local resident and said the tribe opposed the removal. Get the Story:
