U.S. supports Palestine state

The Bush administration continues to support the creation of an independent Palestinian state.

The political party of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, however, rejected sovereignty for Palestine in a vote on Sunday. The Likud Party's position is not binding on Sharon, who has said he could accept a Palestine state.
