FRIDAY, MAY 10, 2002 The University of St. Thomas in Minnesota on Thursday announced it was canceling its annual pow-wow because of a court challenge. The 14-year-old event was set for November but the school said the lawsuit alleging gender discrimination probably won't be resolved by then. A group of Native women is suing the school, charging that their Sweetgrass Road Drum Group was kicked out of the pow-wow because they are female. A state judge this week said the lawsuit could proceed. The school tried to get the case dismissed. Get the Story:
