Tribal company's work on trust accounting on hold

A firm owned by the Central Council of Tlingit and Haida Tribes of Alaska has won a $50 million contract to perform historical accounting work for the Department of Interior.

But the contract with Tlingit and Haida Technology Industries has been put on hold due to the Bush administration's meddling in the trust fund case. After losing in court, the White House worked with members of Congress to delay the accounting for a year. Congress also cut the funds available for historical accounting projects at Interior.
