The Connecticut Department of Public Utility Control on Wednesday voted unanimously to approve the Mohegan Tribe's application to buy telephone service wholesale and market it to consumers in the state.

The tribe will begin selling local service to residential and business customers. They plan to expand to long-distance, international, 1-800, and Internet service.

Partner Communications Group, a telecommuncations company based in New Haven, has worked as a consultant with the tribe on the project.
