Later, students were loaded into vans and driven to the mountaintop to be photographed next to the emerging, nine-story-high face of Crazy Horse, one of the most revered warriors in Lakota history. Crazy Horse, the Oglala Lakota who refused to be photographed, is now the subject of a mammoth, 563-foot-high sculpture being carved from the Black Hills, land he once fought to protect, land still entangled in a 48 million-acre land dispute. . ."
