FEBRUARY 19, 2001 Nebraska Governor has asked all counties in the state to rename "squaw" place names but Bellevue City in Sarpy County doesn't plan on recommending a new name for "Squaw Creek." Some 14 public place names in the state contain "squaw" and counties were requested to suggest new names for them by February 1. But officials in Bellevue City say the name of the creek isn't derogatory. Get the Story:
